The Wish Project
With the extremely high mortality rate of childhood cancer – 75%, The Wish Foundation, a concept conceived by doctors and oncologists working within Ward A4 at Parirenyatwa Hospital provides terminally ill child patients a last ‘wish’.
At regular intervals throughout the year, terminally ill children with cancer were selected “to make a wish”. Their wishes ranged from Barbie dolls, toy cars, a netball ball to sneakers.
This array of simple ‘wishes’ are kindly donated by friends of Meikles Foundation.
Whilst every attempt is made to grant the terminally ill with their wishes, this sadly is not always possible. Where possible the wishes are celebrated with parents and staff. An extremely inspiring but sad occasion.
