Zvishamiso Mbare Arts Initiative

Several other dance projects blossomed from the Prison Jersey effort, and as a result many young people have experienced dance and some have gone on to become accomplished performers and teachers.
Based at the Shingirarayi Youth Centre in Mbare, the Mbare Arts Initiative was designed as a community youth development programme. Meikles Foundation and the Jesuit Youth Ministry partnered to enable the youth of the area to experience free arts training, leading to theatrical and musical productions. Dance teacher Brian
Geza took on the project and was sponsored for a year by the Foundation and the Jesuits.
Several of the youth who were involved in the initiative have gone on to join the Tumbuka dance group.
